The banks of the Shiroishi River, which flows through the town, are lined with cherry blossom trees that extend for approximately 8 km all the way to the neighboring town of Shibata, and are known as the ``Shiraishi River Banks at a glance, 1,000 cherry blossoms.'' The Cherry Blossom Tunnel, which is 90 years old and has approximately 1,200 trees, is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot that represents Miyagi and Tohoku. During the cherry blossom season, the snow-capped Zao Mountain Range and the rows of cherry blossom trees in full bloom are reflected in the clear Shiraishi River, creating an exquisite harmony.
